ISTD Ballet
Classical Ballet continues to be at the heart of solid dance training and has defined the foundation techniques used in other dance genres.
It is a highly technical form of dance and requires years of training to learn and master and much practise to retain proficiency. However, in a good school, children can learn the fundamentals of ballet through structured, positive and fun teaching, capturing their love of dance forever!
The Academy teaches ballet from 3 years old in our preschool classes. We then follow the ISTD syllabus from Primary through to Intermediate. We also offer Dinky Dancers from walking, which introduces basic Ballet through a fabulous class with Mummy or carer.
ISTD Modern
A very popular form of dance loved by all pupils. It is an ever-changing genre that takes influences from current theatrical trends. The style uses travelling steps, high energy kicks, leaps and turns which all need good technique, strength and flexibility.
Modern is very popular with children in the Academy and with the ISTD having a fantastic syllabus to follow, it supports all other genres perfectly.
The Academy teaches ISTD Primary grade through to Intermediate/ Advanced 1.
ISTD Tap
“A percussive conversation with the feet”…………..and a very noisy class!!
The Academy encourages strong tap technique and prides itself on being at the forefront of delivering excellent American style Tap.
Tap is taught using a diverse selection of music and with a relaxed, rhythmical style being very important. It links in perfectly with all the other genres and helps with the musicality of our students.
The Academy teaches ISTD Primary grade through to Intermediate/ Advanced 1. Bronze, Silver and Gold Tap awards are also studied.
Commercial
This genre strongly reflects the current trends on the industry both musically and physically. Taking influence from Hip Hop, Locking, Popping, Street and Breaking all coming under this style. Pre-Senior pupils have regular opportunities to experience these styles with guest teachers, particularly if they are going to study at Vocational College. We also offer a Commercial College Style Jazz class for invited students.
The Academy also teaches ISTD Bronze, Silver and Gold Jazz awards.
“Fleur Elizabeth Academy has felt like a family, especially during covid times. It is very apparent that whatever they do, the children are at the heart of any decision and they genuinely care about their students.”
